Case Study: The IMDb Movie Watchlist High-Quality Scratch-off Poster
In an era of weirdly-named digital products like non-fungible tokens, cinephiles can buy “digital assets” depicting their favorite movie characters, scenes or script quotes.
And yet, there’s something about a classic printed movie poster that still holds up in a way that’s pretty non-fungible itself.
For one thing, you can actually see it without knowing the Wi-Fi password.
At H&H Graphics, we specialize in printed special effects that create an experience, so an opportunity to help create a poster celebrating the experience of watching some of the most popular films of all time? It was an offer we couldn’t refuse.
And when we learned that we’d be working with the creative team at a place called The Raccoon Society that specializes in “laugh-worth stationery” and “gifts for making mischief?” We were all in. They had us at “hello.”
The project originated with IMDb, the internet movie database and go-to resource for million of movie fans – and industry insiders – looking for information about movies, TV shows, video games, streaming content, and celebrities. The organization wanted a movie poster featuring the 100 most popular films, as rated in an annual user poll.
Spoiler Alert: We Nailed the Part
H&H Graphics provided its multisensory printing expertise to the project, which features high-quality, original artwork and high-quality, durable scratch-off effects that enable fans to leave the poster up as a keepsake even after all 100 movies on the watchlist have been scratched off.
